Fun little blue post.

"We're currently expecting both normal and rated battlegrounds to be cross-battlegroup (within a region) for the launch of Cataclysm. So, players queueing from anywhere in north america could play vs players on any north american battlegroup, etc."

This was a big issue for me. (you've likely heard me complain about this.)
Frankly I'm happy, I was pretty sure rated battlegrounds would be the death of WoW PvP.

Lash -- we miss you and

Lash,

Since we cannot get hold of you and hopefully you read this page from time to time, we would like to be able to edit the guild info page if possible. We have a new vent and would like to post it there.

Let us know, and by the way several of us run WOW on windows 7.

Zerk

Haystealer got us a new vent and macro creation

so primarily i will just make this a quick macro info sheet and it contains our vent info.
go to macros either escape or click on the little computer screen that gives you the game menu or type /macro. Stay on the General tab for now and select new. Pick your icon and type the following. Now this might need some editing to work properly. However i tried to get all 3 situations in one macro, it will spam the guild chat for now
----------------don't type -------------
/p is for party
/ra is for raid
/g is for guild
------------this area -- info ---------

/p vent info
/p mercury.typefrag.com
/p port 14098
/p pw drinkmilk

/ra vent info
/ra mercury.typefrag.com
/ra port 14098
/ra pw drinkmilk

/g vent info
/g mercury.typefrag.com
/g port 14098
/g pw drinkmilk

more macro info can be found at
and a partial list of the slash commands can be found at

Thank you Hay

Tol Barad and Wintergrasp changes

I was reading MMO-Champion and read something I quite liked. This is a blue post that was on the forums regarding Tol Barad/Wintergrasp balance issues.

"Population Balancing
Keep in mind Tol Barad is still deep in development, but we do have plans to implement more stringent faction balancing measures than those which exist for Wintergrasp today. We want to have the queue system try to create a battle with as close to a 1:1 team ratio as possible. In other words, if 40 Horde and 150 Alliance players are in the queue, it's going to make the battle somewhere close to 40 vs. 40. There will be a maximum cap of players allowed on each side as there is with Wintergrasp, but there will also be a minimum cap as well. Since the system will be looking for a 1:1 team ratio, the minimum cap will be designed to ensure a battle can't be thrown by a faction if no one shows up. So, say if the minimum cap is 25, there is a chance the battle could be 25 vs. 5.

Because of this new design, it'll be much more beneficial to play on a realm where the faction balance is roughly equivalent rather than seeking a realm where your faction dominates. For this reason we'll continue to monitor faction balance on all realms and work to ensure players enjoy the best gaming experience possible.

[...] Right now the issue with Wintergrasp is it actually encourages the behavior of selecting a realm where your faction dominates. If the reverse becomes true for Tol Barad, that only serves to help improve faction balance rather than further impact it. In Cataclysm it will be more beneficial to be on a realm where your faction is underpopulated (which will lead to a natural trend of balancing out the population), or be on a high-population realm where the maximum Tol Barad cap is reached, or close to reached for each battle.

I hate to ask, but would you explain again how the maximum and minimum caps work, or shall I say how you think they are going to work? I'm a bit confused. :x

The maximum cap will essentially work the same as it does in Wintergrasp. If there are hundreds of players in the queue for Tol Barad on both sides, the system is not going to overcrowd the zone and make it unplayable. It will create an even match with up to a certain number of players on each side.

The minimum cap is intended to prevent griefing from factions which are extremely underpopulated. For example, if it's 3 in the morning and the Alliance have a very low population on a realm, a single Alliance guild could decide to boycott Tol Barad. If there were no minimum cap with the 1:1 ratio queuing system, this could lead to a situation where Tol Barad ends up being a, say, 3 vs. 3 battle leaving many Horde players locked out. So if we set the minimum cap to 25, it means in this scenario that it would be 3 Alliance vs. 25 Horde. In other words, the underpopulated faction on an imbalanced realm can't fully dictate the battle size of Tol Barad all the way down to 0 participants on either side.

Does this apply to Wintergrasp too?

I just got word that we are planning on implementing this new balancing mechanism for Wintergrasp sometimes shortly after the next Wrath of the Lich King minor content patch. So you'll get a chance to see it in action and provide us with feedback prior to the launch of Cataclysm!

So in cliff note form: With the minimum cap is 25, if 25 Horde que and 150 alliance que, the battle will be 25 vs 25.
And if 25 Horde que, and 10 alliance que, will it then just 10 v 10 or 25 v 10?

Your first example is correct. For your second example, the battle would be 25 Horde vs. 10 Alliance.

1) Will Tol'Barad flag players between battles on PvE servers? Please say yes!
2) Will flying mounts be disabled in the zone when the battle isn't taking place?

The current plan is for Tol Barad to function like Wintergrasp with regard to your questions. So it will be a PvP zone at all times and flight will be disabled once the battle begins."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As someone who has been complaining about Wintergrasp every time I join a match, I am glad to say that these changes would make me a happy Paladin.

Away for the week.

Hey guys, I'm out of town visiting my family for the easter break, so for the next week I won't be online much (If at all).

If you do see me online it's unlikely I'll be able to participate in anything, their computer is pretty slow.

Good luck with the raids and such, see you in a week.

- Danaris.

LASH IS TRAPPED IN RW

Hi gang,

Well I finally got my new computer and got everything downloaded and ready to roll when suddenly I'm confronted with I cant play because the license agreement froze up the in game mouse. Sooo I had to get my computer support people to finally figure out that in order to play WOW with Windows 7 I have to start it in Windows as a framed window.. Got that resolved so I went to push the button,, now Blizz tells me I need a battle net account.. HELLOOO wtf do you think ive had for the past 5 months???
So I get booted to a bnet account set up that asks me if I have a b net account ,, so I do ,, then I type in the usual and move on then I hit the enter .. and poof .. my account is invalid.

So Im hot on the heels of the not so supportive blizz whose tech thinks that my email wasnt in full when I told them that its my account name registering as invalid..

GOOODDDDD.

Anyway maybe Ill see you sometime.. Please take care of yourselves and have fun,
Im not..

Lash
ps did my my authenticator delivered yesterday for the invalid account hows that for ironic.?

Bankitems

There are several addons that we probably all have as our favorites. One that Yuk and I use and consider a must have is BankItems.

If you use fubars you can also use bankitemsfu which places the bankitems icon on the fubar and allows you thru the options to remove the icon from your mini map. And if you use titan panel it will see bankitems as an information item and allow you to place the icon on the titan panel and remove the minimap icon.

Ok, so by now you want to know what can I do with this addon. By installing it and adding it through the addons button to each of your characters all you have to do is go to the bank and open your bank bags then open the guild bank, then go to mailbox and open the mailbox. This is necessary for each character, and if you play on multiple computers wow does not maintain this information so you will have to update on each computer. The addon creates a local database of your item across all toons, all guilds and all mailboxes and all servers.

Ok so that is nice right. Here is the real meat of this add on.

Lets say you want to create a widget and you know you will need a pearl, a feather, and 4 light leathers. You can click on the fu icon (a blue bag) and it opens a screen that looks like your bank bag. There are 2 arrows on the bottom rt. Click the right most one and you get another screen. On the bottom of that screen is a search box. There you search for a partial spelling or a full spelling if you are sure and up pops a list of all the locations of that item in your account inventory and all guild banks. It will show you where all those items can be found with the character, bag and slot within the bag and sort it by character and guild bank, or Tauren Stampede or bag 0 (your backpack). So if you searched "pearl" it would return all pearls in the inventory like northsea, black, small lustrous, etc. and is sorted by location.

This in short will allow you to not waste money at the AH buying what you already own, and utilize the items donated to the guild bank for your use and let you know that you really are not short 1 light leather because it is in your mailbox.

Oh yeah, it will also keep track of your gold, so you can rob Peter to pay for Pauls epic flyer. Just hover over the blue bag to see a list of your characters and the gold on them. That comes in real handy when your stone is on cooldown and you need 1 adders tongue, and you can send the funds to your banker toon because they are broke. I hope you find this a usefull tool that allows you to maximize play time and not hunting for your stuff time.

Available www.curse.com and www.wowinterface.com!

This addon is not necessary for those of you with a photographic memory.

/cheer

See you at the next raid!

Changing engineering specializations.

This post is for Yukaya, and anyone else who may be interested.

I found this from reading around.

"Since patch 3.2.0, Gnomish Engineers and Goblin Engineers can now switch profession specializations for a fee.

You can now switch specializations by visiting Narain Soothfancy in north east Tanaris. The book on the table in his hut will allow you to switch specializations for a fee of 150g.

Note that switching specializations will cause you to unlearn all associated recipes for your current specialization."

Remember though, if you do this you will lose all schematics for goblin engineering, including the shatter rounds. But you would able to buy the schematic to craft Iceblade Arrows.

Hay is adding to his collection of Plans!

Hi all,

Hay wanted me to let you know that in addition to the Boot of Kingly Upheaval Plans he bought, he also has the plans for the Pillars of Might.

Thanks Hay

Lisha's Rogue Help

Sorry this took so long for me to post lisha,

Recently I received a couple of advice requests from guildies working with their Rogue alts. You have to recognize that I'm not an expert but I want to share with the guild the research I have done about my class.

Talent Spec - Base your spec in your best pair of weapons. If you have a pair of swords that are better from your actual pair of daggers do not hesitate to respec from combat to mutilate or a combat sword specialization, this way you will improve your DPS. The most common specs are: Combat 20/51/0 Mutilate 51/18/2. These builds are optimal for maximum DPS, but I actually adapt these builds for my raid duties. Normally I am assigned to interrupt some mobs in certain encounters, so I use a point in Improved Kick for example. Weapons, Rotation and Poison in order to start DPSing early in an encounter, and to help the tank get aggro, try to cast Tricks of The Trade (ToT for short) on your tank before you start to dps your target. In raids, some times our leader asks us to wait to dps the target until the tank has correctly positioned the target, so even if ToT helps you to transfer aggro to your tank I think is better to focus on following instructions in order to not confuse the rest of the raid members. Also remember that a Rogue is a melee class so you must be at melee range in order to start trasfering aggro to the tank via ToT, and even if you have already cast it you can aggro the target before your tank and confuse him/her.

Mutilate and have the Highest DPS dagger mainhand, have at least one fast dagger in either hand. Fastest dagger - Deadly Poison, Other dagger - Instant Poison. Priority: **Ensure that there is a bleed (ie. Rupture, Deep Wounds, Rend) on the target.** Start up Hunger for Blood. (Start up with Slice and Dice or however you please, really). Use vanish whenever possible for Overkill buff.
1. Keep HFB up.
2. Keep SnD up (mainly via Envenom).
3. 4+ combo point Envenom.
4. ToT when off cooldown, especially with 2pc T10.

Combat: Mainhand a sword/axe, fist or mace weapon of generally slow speed. Offhand a sword/axe, dagger or fist weapon of generally fast speed. Mainhand Instant Poison, Offhand Deadly Poison. Use cooldowns whenever possible. Killing spree + blade flurry, blade flurry + adrenaline rush can be used. Adrenaline rush + killing spree is not recommended due to energy capping.
1. Keep SnD up, no matter what the number of combo points are.
2. 5 point Eviscerate.
3. ToT when off cooldown, especially with 2pc T10.

The previous rotation was a copy paste from a post in the Elitist Jerks rogue forums and is the happy rogue kind of fight that you wish to find every encounter a Tank and Spank that will maximise your DPS, but sadly not all the fights are rogue friendly and you have to keep in mind to use Kick and Kidney Shot when you have an interrupt duty like Assembly of Iron in Ulduar. Use Feint when the mob casts AoE damage to help your healers (it reduces 50% of AoE damage). When you have to fight with a lot of targets like whelps with Onyxia, never cast Fan of Knives without casting before a ToT on your tank, unless you want to be a dead rogue. When the tank dies we normally gain instant aggro cause we are in melee range, try to use Evasion maybe it gives enough time to a druid to battle res your tank or to your parters to finish up the mob. If not possible, Vanish or Sprint out of combat when a wipe is inminent, this will help you with the repair bill. As a pure DPS class we normally want to be at the top of DPS meters, but by experience, while trying to keep dpsing at max we do not pay attention in our health and in almost all cases we finish death. A healer must focus on keeping the tank alive who has priority over you, so keep an eye on your health. A live Rogue makes more DPS than a dead one, so try to follow the raid leader instructions, many bosses can kill you with 1 hit.

Gear and Gems wow-heroes.com is a good resource to see your gear, find updates and compare yours with the top rogues out there. Consumables - I used to eat Blackened Dragonfin, but now I notice that a Fish Feast gives you a better DPS performance. Try to use a Flask of Endless Rage in raids.

AddOns Deadly Boss Mod is a very useful tool for the warnings and timers, it helps you to run away in certain fights with bosses that can kill you with one hit. Also warns you when you are standing up over fire or poison. PowerAuras helps me to see when to refresh SnD and HFB buffs and also could be used to see bleeding debuffs on targets.

Macros I still have to work more in this topic but the one I found useful for ToT on Tank is:
------- start ----- /target /cast Tricks of the Trade /assist ------- end ----

Would people be willing to use this for raiding?

www.curse.com - EPGP Loot Master

I've heard from a few raid leaders that this addon makes loot quite a bit simpler to decide who gets it.

The problem is, for it to be useful, everyone in the raid needs it installed. I know there are some people out there that don't use addons :P

So, post here if you're willing to use it :) or not :P

A couple of Helpful Tankadin Macros gotten from Tankadin.com

Ok, paladin tanks have 5 moves that are routinely used for threat.
When you add in
  1. 3 moves that have 6 second cooldowns
  2. 2 moves that have 8 second cooldowns (with global cooldowns, its referred to as a 9 second cooldown)
The highest threat rotation possible comes from using a 6s move, then a 9s. so it looks like "6 9 6 9 6" start over.

One Macro is:
  1.  /castsequence reset=6 Hammer of the Righteous, Shield of Righteousness
The other macro that you'll use is
  1. /castsequence reset=9 Consecration, Holy Shield, Judgement of Light
  2. /castsequence reset=9 Consecration, Holy Shield, Judgement of Wisdom
I have them set to two keys w/ PageUp, and PageDown keybound to them. The second macro, I use the one with wisdom in heroics or situations where I'm not taking as much damage and need more mana than is provided by my Spiritual Attunement talent. Use the Judgement of Light for raids or high incoming damage scenarios.

It is easier to just hit PgUp, PgDn, PgUp, PgDn, PgUp, PgDn, PgUp, PgDn..... ad infinitum.

I however keep the skills themselves on my bars incase your in situations where you need irregular sequences of the rotation... like just needing consecrate and hammer alot.... like Halls of Stone.

Hunter Information

Stat Priority:
  1. Hit Rating: Hit Cap is 263. You want to stack this until you get to 263. At this point, if you stand behind a boss (for melee hits), you'll never miss. For Ranged, where you stand doesn't matter, just that you get 263 hit rating.
  2. Agility: 40 agi = 1% crit rating, 1 AGI = 1 RAP (ranged damage per section)
  3. Haste Rating: decreases your global cooldown from using each moves, increases your autoshot speed.
  4. Intellect: stack this only until you find that you don't run out of mana for your average fight length
  5. Attack Power: 14 RAP = 1 dps
  6. Armor Penetration
  7. Crit Rating
