Lash -- we miss you and

Lash,

Since we cannot get hold of you and hopefully you read this page from time to time, we would like to be able to edit the guild info page if possible. We have a new vent and would like to post it there.

Let us know, and by the way several of us run WOW on windows 7.

Zerk

Haystealer got us a new vent and macro creation

so primarily i will just make this a quick macro info sheet and it contains our vent info.
go to macros either escape or click on the little computer screen that gives you the game menu or type /macro. Stay on the General tab for now and select new. Pick your icon and type the following. Now this might need some editing to work properly. However i tried to get all 3 situations in one macro, it will spam the guild chat for now
----------------don't type -------------
/p is for party
/ra is for raid
/g is for guild
------------this area -- info ---------

/p vent info
/p mercury.typefrag.com
/p port 14098
/p pw drinkmilk

/ra vent info
/ra mercury.typefrag.com
/ra port 14098
/ra pw drinkmilk

/g vent info
/g mercury.typefrag.com
/g port 14098
/g pw drinkmilk

more macro info can be found at
and a partial list of the slash commands can be found at

Thank you Hay

Tol Barad and Wintergrasp changes

I was reading MMO-Champion and read something I quite liked. This is a blue post that was on the forums regarding Tol Barad/Wintergrasp balance issues.

"Population Balancing
Keep in mind Tol Barad is still deep in development, but we do have plans to implement more stringent faction balancing measures than those which exist for Wintergrasp today. We want to have the queue system try to create a battle with as close to a 1:1 team ratio as possible. In other words, if 40 Horde and 150 Alliance players are in the queue, it's going to make the battle somewhere close to 40 vs. 40. There will be a maximum cap of players allowed on each side as there is with Wintergrasp, but there will also be a minimum cap as well. Since the system will be looking for a 1:1 team ratio, the minimum cap will be designed to ensure a battle can't be thrown by a faction if no one shows up. So, say if the minimum cap is 25, there is a chance the battle could be 25 vs. 5.

Because of this new design, it'll be much more beneficial to play on a realm where the faction balance is roughly equivalent rather than seeking a realm where your faction dominates. For this reason we'll continue to monitor faction balance on all realms and work to ensure players enjoy the best gaming experience possible.

[...] Right now the issue with Wintergrasp is it actually encourages the behavior of selecting a realm where your faction dominates. If the reverse becomes true for Tol Barad, that only serves to help improve faction balance rather than further impact it. In Cataclysm it will be more beneficial to be on a realm where your faction is underpopulated (which will lead to a natural trend of balancing out the population), or be on a high-population realm where the maximum Tol Barad cap is reached, or close to reached for each battle.

I hate to ask, but would you explain again how the maximum and minimum caps work, or shall I say how you think they are going to work? I'm a bit confused. :x

The maximum cap will essentially work the same as it does in Wintergrasp. If there are hundreds of players in the queue for Tol Barad on both sides, the system is not going to overcrowd the zone and make it unplayable. It will create an even match with up to a certain number of players on each side.

The minimum cap is intended to prevent griefing from factions which are extremely underpopulated. For example, if it's 3 in the morning and the Alliance have a very low population on a realm, a single Alliance guild could decide to boycott Tol Barad. If there were no minimum cap with the 1:1 ratio queuing system, this could lead to a situation where Tol Barad ends up being a, say, 3 vs. 3 battle leaving many Horde players locked out. So if we set the minimum cap to 25, it means in this scenario that it would be 3 Alliance vs. 25 Horde. In other words, the underpopulated faction on an imbalanced realm can't fully dictate the battle size of Tol Barad all the way down to 0 participants on either side.

Does this apply to Wintergrasp too?

I just got word that we are planning on implementing this new balancing mechanism for Wintergrasp sometimes shortly after the next Wrath of the Lich King minor content patch. So you'll get a chance to see it in action and provide us with feedback prior to the launch of Cataclysm!

So in cliff note form: With the minimum cap is 25, if 25 Horde que and 150 alliance que, the battle will be 25 vs 25.
And if 25 Horde que, and 10 alliance que, will it then just 10 v 10 or 25 v 10?

Your first example is correct. For your second example, the battle would be 25 Horde vs. 10 Alliance.

1) Will Tol'Barad flag players between battles on PvE servers? Please say yes!
2) Will flying mounts be disabled in the zone when the battle isn't taking place?

The current plan is for Tol Barad to function like Wintergrasp with regard to your questions. So it will be a PvP zone at all times and flight will be disabled once the battle begins."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As someone who has been complaining about Wintergrasp every time I join a match, I am glad to say that these changes would make me a happy Paladin.

Away for the week.

Hey guys, I'm out of town visiting my family for the easter break, so for the next week I won't be online much (If at all).

If you do see me online it's unlikely I'll be able to participate in anything, their computer is pretty slow.

Good luck with the raids and such, see you in a week.

Bankitems

There are several addons that we probably all have as our favorites. One that Yuk and I use and consider a must have is BankItems.

If you use fubars you can also use bankitemsfu which places the bankitems icon on the fubar and allows you thru the options to remove the icon from your mini map. And if you use titan panel it will see bankitems as an information item and allow you to place the icon on the titan panel and remove the minimap icon.

Ok, so by now you want to know what can I do with this addon. By installing it and adding it through the addons button to each of your characters all you have to do is go to the bank and open your bank bags then open the guild bank, then go to mailbox and open the mailbox. This is necessary for each character, and if you play on multiple computers wow does not maintain this information so you will have to update on each computer. The addon creates a local database of your item across all toons, all guilds and all mailboxes and all servers.

Ok so that is nice right. Here is the real meat of this add on.

Lets say you want to create a widget and you know you will need a pearl, a feather, and 4 light leathers. You can click on the fu icon (a blue bag) and it opens a screen that looks like your bank bag. There are 2 arrows on the bottom rt. Click the right most one and you get another screen. On the bottom of that screen is a search box. There you search for a partial spelling or a full spelling if you are sure and up pops a list of all the locations of that item in your account inventory and all guild banks. It will show you where all those items can be found with the character, bag and slot within the bag and sort it by character and guild bank, or Tauren Stampede or bag 0 (your backpack). So if you searched "pearl" it would return all pearls in the inventory like northsea, black, small lustrous, etc. and is sorted by location.

This in short will allow you to not waste money at the AH buying what you already own, and utilize the items donated to the guild bank for your use and let you know that you really are not short 1 light leather because it is in your mailbox.

Oh yeah, it will also keep track of your gold, so you can rob Peter to pay for Pauls epic flyer. Just hover over the blue bag to see a list of your characters and the gold on them. That comes in real handy when your stone is on cooldown and you need 1 adders tongue, and you can send the funds to your banker toon because they are broke. I hope you find this a usefull tool that allows you to maximize play time and not hunting for your stuff time.

Available www.curse.com and www.wowinterface.com!

This addon is not necessary for those of you with a photographic memory.

/cheer

See you at the next raid!

Changing engineering specializations.

This post is for Yukaya, and anyone else who may be interested.

I found this from reading around.

"Since patch 3.2.0, Gnomish Engineers and Goblin Engineers can now switch profession specializations for a fee.

You can now switch specializations by visiting Narain Soothfancy in north east Tanaris. The book on the table in his hut will allow you to switch specializations for a fee of 150g.

Note that switching specializations will cause you to unlearn all associated recipes for your current specialization."

Remember though, if you do this you will lose all schematics for goblin engineering, including the shatter rounds. But you would able to buy the schematic to craft Iceblade Arrows.

Raiding for the Holiday Season

What would people like to do for the next week and a half?

I'm gone at least two days this next week, it appears that Dan is also gone. In general, it seems that at least half our group will be AWOL during the holiday.

Do we want to just nix the Raid schedule until the weekend after christmas?

Crafters in the Guild

So Ive noticed a lot of people dont know who to go to or who to look for when they need something crafted or created etc. I know that its easy to go to www.wow-heroes.com and you can actually look up who has what professions within our guild. As a guild our size, we should not have to go out and pay to get anything crafted with the exception of rare epic recipes that nobody within the guild has. As such, im posting a short list of who can craft what for each profession. I am only listing a few people for each profession based on how often I see them on or who seems to be on the most.

Note: I am only listing people at 450 in the Profession unless otherwise noted

Alchemy - Eldermoon (Dan), Jinda, Bandage (Wada), Buluva (Cube), Lisha
Blacksmithing - Lashtail, Haystealer, Exarkun, Graynight(Dead), Moridyn (Wada), Bloodor
Leatherworking - Gnarkilldave, Zerkofark, Uug (Wada)
Enchanting - Sinscribe(Dead, 460), Banality(Cube), Tephul (Wad, 439), Darthscarz (Exark, 436)
Tailoring - Sinscribe(Dead), Darthscarz(Exark), Lashstar (Lash)
Engineering - Gnarkilldave, Yukaya
Jewelcrafting - Gnarkillyou, Danaris, Uugo(Wada), Lisha, Demonevil(Dead)
Inscription - Deadlydorite(Cube, 449), Sammara(Dan, 445)

Friends of TTS

Just to post for those that don't normally participate in the M/W/F raid schedule, we have some friends in Misfits that crave instances and are always willing to help people.

Brutegar - Tank
Aldie, Dantius - very fun people, dps is respectable for the short time they've been raiding.
Danaris - a DPS that has just about every instance on farm with us.

These guys really know their stuff and are excellent people. Look them up when you can!

Updated Guild Rankings Site

Hey guys,

Just wanted to drop a note on the updated guild rankings. We are using a new site www.wow-heroes.com (thanks to Wada for the suggestion). You will notice some differences in the "What Are You Ready For?" posts:

1) The number beside you character is the gear ranking that the site gives you. Please don't take this too seriously. For instance, there are a couple blues that I have on Sinscribe that I much prefer to epics that might give me a higher gear score. Please just use this number as an approximation and use the gear that you play best with.

2) The 3 groupings represent the actual rankings. The top group is our Devastator rank (those ready for 25 man raid). The second group is our Heroic rank (those ready for heroics and 10 man raid). The third group is our level 80 characters below a 1300 gear score. This group can certainly attempt heroics but would be wise to go with Heroic or Devastator ranked people.

I hope all of this makes sense and feel free to ask me if you have any questions. Happy gaming!

TROLL PATROL - Quest Helper Zul-Drak Daily

This Post is Inspired by Lash - and
Created by Zerk
and is available to all!
So Howdy All

An overview of this quest is that it is a timed 4 part quest (20 mins) and the other 3 parts change almost daily and I have seen 3 different iterations of the other 3 parts. This part of the quest Alchemist Finklestein is a random selection of items. That is why i made the list. Another simple thing is to see how many people are doing the water part of the quest as there are limited mob (quest objectives) and sometimes it cannot be completed in time, so you may want to come back or do the quest when there are less players doing the quest.

You should also be aware that this is an excelent rep (argent crusade) for casters as there are several pieces of gear that should be strived for. Lash says that it only takes 25 days to reach exalted just by doing the daily and getting the bonus reps and GOLD for completing the quests in less than 20 minutes and it is certainly do able for the clothies by themselves.

Now for the nitty gritty.

As you enter the building for the quest for Alchemy there are two rooms that contain the quest items. These items are to the left and to the right and I labeled the rooms south (left) and north (right). Now to understand my code. Look at the first entry. Abomination Guts. S4B4
S=South Room I labeled the shelving units clockwise as you enter the room 1 thru 4, the "TOP" shelf is not used so the second shelf down is "A" and the item # is left to right.
Therefore Abomination guts is southroom 4th shelving unit (clockwise) 2nd row down and 4th item from the left. The bags and crates are not listed. I hope you find this helpful and I hope we can copy and paste for easy printing.

Enjoy!

Max DPS

I wanted to share a website with those of you who don't know about it. Its www.maxdps.com.

Max DPS is a great site that can help you find out what your current raid dps should be or how to obtain gear that will help your DPS.

On the front of the page at the top is a list of the classes. Some of the classes have different specs to choose from when you mouse over it. Click your spec and you are taken to your class/spec's page.

At the top you will find the suggested DPS cycle, the skills you should be using during fights, for maximum DPS. For example I am a fury warrior so my DPS cycle is Blood Thirst then Whirlwind and Heroic Strike for a rage dump and Slam on BT crit.

Under the DPS cycle is a place where you can input your stats. Inputting your stats and hitting submit will show you a bunch of information including your buffed stats, white attack table (non-skills), yellow attack table (skills), and current stats including your total DPS. This will allow you to see what you need to work on to get your DPS up to par.

I used to always have trouble trying to find out which piece of gear was better than another. Under the input stats section there is a list of gear slots. Selecting a gear slot will show you a list of gear, the top of the list being the best piece of gear for that item slot and where the gear comes from. It also shows you the suggested gems to put into the gem slots for maximum DPS.

I encourage you all to take a look at this site. It has helped me to fine tune my gear to get the best possible DPS I can get.

Useful Add-ons

Here is a list of useful programs and add-ons that I personally use. As always, if you want to suggest one, leave a comment and I will add it to the list.

Ventrilo - Allows you to connect voice to voice with those in your guild or party. The guild has it's own ventrilo channel (this can be found on the guild information tab).

Cartographer - Reveals the entire map to you, regardless of whether you have explored the area or not. It also includes a coordinate function to show where you are. Many modules can be added and I would suggest all of them.

Questhelper - Database of all quest objectives. Uses an arrow to show you where you need to go to complete quest. Works in conjunction with Cartographer.

Recount - Displays information of what each person in your group is doing (i.e. damage done, healing, CC breakers, deaths, etc.). Also an exceptional tool for helping DPS define better rotations when working on the practice dummies.

Atlas Loot - Database of all gear. Shows where to obtain gear from instances, how much pvp gear costs, what the mats are for craftables, etc.

Deadly Boss Mods - An add-on that can do just about everything. See their website for details (www.deadlybossmods.com).

Item Rack - Organize sets of gear (pvp vs. pve, tank vs. dps) so you can switch between them with one click of the button. Will be even more useful with the coming of dual specs.

Pawn - Allows you to input values of certain stats and then weighs any gear piece you look at with those stats. See the forum website for ideas on values (www.pawnmod.trenchrats.com/).

Power Auras - Allows you to specify events that will trigger an audio or visual cue (i.e. when a boss' spell reflection goes up so I'm reminded to stop casting).

Fubar - A panel that certain add-ons can plug into.

Slidebar - Allows you to rotate the minimap icons to more convenient spots.

Helpful Websites

Here are some really helpful sites that I use. If you have any you'd like to suggest, just leave a comment and I'll add them to the list. Enjoy!

http://www.shadowpanther.net/ - Great site for everything rogue. Has gear rankings, pvp strategies, specs, etc. A must for any rogues.

http://www.dwarfpriest.com/ - Very nice priest site that I've used for quite a while. Hasn't been updated in a while (hoping they come back to it), but still very useful.

http://be.imba.hu/ - Assesses a guild, group or character's gear and tells what gear they need to improve, enchants/gems could be better and advises whether they are ready for heroics or raids.

http://www.wowmatrix.com/ - My favorite of the add-on downloaders.

http://www.pawnmod.trenchrats.com/ - My favorite new add-on. Gives an overall number for gear based on values that you input.

http://www.elitistjerks.com/ - Nice overall forum site for all classes and topics.

http://www.thottbot.com/ - Everyone has their favorite general information source and this one happens to be mine. Wowhead & Wowwiki are also good.
